Men’s Health

To your family, your a superhero. But real strength isn’t about pushing through, it’s about knowing when you need to protect yourself. Defend you health, to protect their world.

You don’t need to be invincible. You need to stay proactive.

To your family, you’re invincible. You carry the weight of their worlds on your shoulders. You help them defeat the monsters under the bed.

But real strength isn’t about pushing through, it’s about knowing when you need to protect yourself.

Looking after yourself is one of the strongest things you can do

When it comes to your health, sometimes waiting until something doesn’t feel right isn’t the best approach. Issues can build up over time, causing more symptoms and making treatment harder. Health conditions that commonly affect men include:
Back Pain

Back problems affect around 16.4% of Australian men.

And while you may not think your back problems are a big issue now, 72% of people with back problems live with one or more other chronic conditions.

Plus, back problems can have a big impact on your life, increasing pain, decreasing activity and reducing your participation in social and work activities.*

Heart Conditions

Acute coronary events (including heart attack and unstable angina) occurred 2.2 times more in men than women in 2023.*

On top of that, stroke occured 1.4 times as much in males than females.**

Knowing the symptoms, your risk and getting regular checks is vital to protecting your heart health.

Lung Cancer

Lung cancer was the fifth most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia in 2021.*

And is often diagnosed at the later stages when treatment is more difficult. Regular checks (whether you have symptoms or not) can help you find things before they become big issues.

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer made up 28% of all cancer diagnoses in Australian men in 2024.*

While prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers, the good news is that when prostate cancer is found early, the survival rate is 96%.**

Testicular Conditions

Conditions such as testicular cancer and varicoceles can significantly impact your health.

Testicular cancer is more common in younger men, and is the second most commonly diagnose cancer for men aged 20-39 (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer).*

Bone Conditions

Osteoporosis isn’t just a concern for women. Men are also at risk, particularly as they age and the bones naturally lost their strength.

Prostate Imaging

Direct Radiology perform several services for diagnosis and staging of prostate related issues, including MRI, Ultrasound and CT.

We offer a full range of medical imaging services to detect and diagnose cardiovascular conditions.

Ultrasound imaging of the scrotum provides valuable anatomical and pathological information about the testes, epididymis and scrotum using high-frequency ultrasound, which is safe and painless. Ultrasound is typically used to assess the cause of pain, swelling, infertility or a palpable lump. In babies and infants, ultrasound can search for undescended testes.

Sudden onset of pain in the scrotum is a serious condition that should be investigated immediately to rule out testicular torsion, when the spermatic cord twists and reduces blood supply to the scrotum. Testicular torsion requires immediate surgery to avoid any permanent damage to the torted testis.

Although breast cancer is a rare condition in men, Direct Radiology provides a comprehensive breast imaging service for both men and women.

The same level of privacy and expert care is provided to men, who could get breast cancer and might need diagnostic testing.

If you notice any unusual signs or symptoms, such as a breast lump, speak to your doctor about your concerns.

We offer a range of musculoskeletal scans and interventional procedures to identify and treat the source of your pain.

Additionally, we offer DEXA Bone Density scans to assess your bone health and help you take steps to ensure your bones stay healthy.

In collaboration with Chest Scan, we provide free low-dose chest CT scans as part of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program.

If you’re not eligible to for the program, there are still scanning options to assess the health of your lungs.

They need you at your best

Looking after your health goes beyond your own wellbeing. It is about being there for the people around you. The ones who rely on your support, your time, and your care in everyday moments.
